We are an association that is currently supporting approximatley 35
foster homes in the city. As well as support we provide training, distribute
a monthly newsletter and hold a monthly support group. We are also involved
in recruiting. Our association is always looking for new information.

- We have approximately 900 foster families in New Brunswick with
an average of 1250 children in care at any given time. Many innovative
projects have been undertaken by this association and we have set
the pace for other organizations of this nature. We would love to

and Labrador.

Simcoe County is divided up into 5 branches because of our large area.
They are Barrie, Orillia, Collingwood, Alliston and Midland. There are
approximately 105 open foster homes in our area. We have an executive
of 4, President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer. The Board
is made up of 5 area representatives elected and five more appointed.
We have a foster parent representative on the CAS Board, an advocate
and a past President. We publish a monthly newsletter.

Our Mission Statement: The purpose of the Foster Families Association
is to promote a closer working relationship between Family and Children's
services of the Waterloo Region, the staff, Board of Directors and Foster
Families. To promote fellowship and to encourage a spirit of co-operation
and helpfulness among its members; to promote the interests of, and improvements
in, the existing services in respect to Foster Families; to promote educational
activities relating to the care and treatment of foster children and their
foster families; and to co-operate with other organizations which have
similar objectives in whole or in part to those of this Foster Families
Association.
